How do I set the tide?

Navigate to a tide website (we recommend www.tide-forecast.com and find the body of water you wish to track.

Once you know the current tide, enable tide setting mode on the Tide Seeker by using a toothpick or something similar to press the recessed pusher that's located at the 2 o'clock position for 3 seconds.

From here you can easily set the tide hand to match the current tide level, by holding down the recessed pusher, or incrementing it with a quick push.

Is the tide I want to track supported?

The Bower Tide Seeker tracks semidiurnal tides which cover about 75% of the world's coastlines. There are two low and high tides a day, with high tide occurring every 12 hours and 25 minutes.

Diurnal tides on the other hand, feature one low and high tide a day, and occur along 25% of the world's coastlines.

If you're not sure whether the tide you want to track is semidiurnal or diurnal, you can check on this website, https://beltoforion.de/en/tides/tidal_cycles.php.

How does the dial and hands work?

Our goal was to ensure the dial and hands are in harmony, working together to tell the tide and time in a whimsical, yet practical way.

For example, you'll notice the minute hand has a cut out which serves two purposes, firstly to allow the hour hand to perfectly align with it as it's passing underneath, and secondly to frame each hour indices as the minute hand passes over the top.

Additionally, the precisely imprecise hour and minute hands are intentionally rounded at their tip to reduce focus on the exact time. Contrasting this, we love the idea a precise and prominent centre hand tracks something as chaotic as the ebb and flow of the tide.

What material is the watch case made from?

Crafted from solid 316L stainless steel for incredible corrosion resistance, and finely brushed on all surfaces for a refined and practical tool watch finish.

What are the watch case measurements?

To maximise everyday wearability and comfort, we chose classic dimensions and proportions, with a case that's 39mm is diameter, 10mm thin, 45mm lug-to-lug and 20mm lug width.

Will the watch fit my wrist?

We designed the watch for wrists of all sizes. We have happy customers with wrists as small as 5.7in (14.5cm), to as big as 8.4in (21.5cm).

Please check our Kickstarter project to see the watch on different sized wrists.

What type of crystal does the watch use?

Incredibly scratch resistant sapphire crystal with a box profile and inner anti-reflective coating for optimum visibility in all conditions.

We put the anti-reflective coating on the inside of the sapphire crystal, so that the coating doesn't get damaged and deteriorate over time.

Can I check the time in the dark?

All the five minute, hour and 12 / 3 / 6 / 9 indices are crafted using 0.5mm thick, cyan blue Swiss Super-Luminova lume.

This type of lume can be charged by natural or artificial light sources. Given its thickness, it's incredibly bright and long lasting, with the added bonus of casting a shadow on the watch dial when light hits it in just the right way.

How water-resistant is the watch?

Water resistant to 10 ATM (100m / 330ft), featuring a flush mounted tide hand pusher for extra durability.

Why not a screw down crown?

We chose a push-pull crown because it's a simpler mechanism that's more robust over time. We designed the crown to be discreet, and integrated closely with the watch case to minimise risk of accidental opening.

It's a misconception that screw down crowns are more water resistant. Their main benefit is reducing the risk of the crown opening whilst under water. However over time, they generally require more maintenance as they can become threaded, less reliable and can even damage the watch movement if screwed down too tight.

How precise is the watch at telling time?

Precise to -0.33 / +0.67 seconds per day. This means the watch will not lose or gain more than this time on any given day when used in normal conditions.

What is the total power reserve of the Tide Seeker watch?

Total power reserve is up to 5 years. Once the power reserve is depleted, it can be replenished by installing a new No. 395 battery.

What type of strap does the watch come with?

We are including a handmade genuine black leather strap, paired with durable stainless steel quick release spring bars and buckle.

Can I change the strap?

Designed to be an absolute strap monster, featuring a 20mm lug width. We optimised the lug hole placement so you can easily swap in your favourite straps, no matter how thick or thin they are.
