At Bower, our connection to the ocean doesn’t end when the sun goes down, and neither should your ability to tell time. That’s where lume comes in.
What is lume?
Short for luminescence, lume is the glow-in-the-dark material applied to watch hands and markers so you can read the time in low light. We use Swiss Super-LumiNova for its clarity, consistency, and long-lasting performance.
🔦 3 Fun Lume Facts
1. It’s not radioactive anymore
Vintage watches used radium or tritium for glow, which were radioactive. Today’s Super-LumiNova is completely safe and works by absorbing and releasing light.
2. It works best after a good charge
Lume “charges” from light exposure (sunlight, flashlight, or even bright indoor lighting) and glows longest when fully exposed beforehand.
3. It’s functional and beautiful
We tuned the glow of the Tide Seeker to balance visibility with a calm, ocean-inspired blue tone. Bright enough to guide you, subtle enough to suit any setting.
So whether you’re paddling out for dawn patrol or heading home from a late-night walk by the sea, your watch is still working quietly in the dark.
All the Tide Seekers use the same lume. Discover the collection now and get yourself one for your next date-night by the ocean 🩵
