Why Australian Design Matters

At Bower, we design the kind of watch we want to wear. Simple, durable, and ready for the kind of life we live here in Australia. If it resonates with others, great. But first, it has to work for us.

We Design From Our Own Life

We didn’t start with trends or market research. We started with a problem. We surf, we fish, we dive, we hike the coastline, we spend time outside, and we were constantly switching between watches that looked good and ones that could handle rougher conditions.

So we designed something that could do both. A watch that looks clean in any setting but is tough enough for saltwater, sun, and the bumps that come with everyday use.

Australian Design Has a Certain Feel

It’s not loud. It’s not over-engineered. It’s not pretending to be something it’s not.

Australian design tends to focus on what’s essential. We care about things working well, lasting, and feeling honest. That’s something we think you can feel the moment you pick up one of our watches.

The Tide Connection

Living near the ocean, you develop a sense of rhythm that most watch brands don’t think about. We added a tide indicator because we actually use it. Whether it’s for a morning surf or planning a weekend by the coast, it’s a small detail that makes the watch feel more personal and useful.

We didn’t add it as a gimmick. We added it because we live with the tide.

For Us First, Then for You

There’s something a little backwards (in a good way) about how Australians design. We tend to make things we love and let the world catch on. That’s how we approached Bower.

We figured if we made a watch that we were proud to wear, there’d be other people out there who’d get it too. And it turns out, there are.
